Some families have a higher-than-expected prevalence of cancer or cases of early-onset cancers, suggesting a strong genetic cause. This type of genetic cause is hereditary, and it can be particularly common for breast, ovarian and colon cancers. If there is a history of cancer in your family, we can provide you with a more specialized or targeted genetic test that evaluates multiple cancer genes at once. The most well-known of these genes are BRCA1 and BRCA2, both of which can significantly increase the risk of developing breast, ovarian and other related cancers.

DNA banking

DNA Banking is a safe, painless and secure method to store your genetic makeup for future use.

Store your DNA now to ensure it is available later on. Our banking service will ensure your DNA sample is stored safely and in the right conditions for a total of 15 years with the additional option of having your 16 marker profile extracted.

With the service, we will store your DNA for 15 years in a secure and safe facility. Your DNA sample can be collected by a neutral, third-party doctor or nurse (known as a sampler) using our kit. The sampler will ensure the DNA sample is collected following a “chain of custody”. Samples are collected by means of mouth swabs.

Once we receive your sample, we will test it to make sure there is enough DNA in the sample. We will send you a banking certificate that will state the 15 year storage period as well as information regarding who will have access to the DNA sample should the need arise.
